Enlarged Heart
Cardiomyopathy is a medical condition in which the heart is enlarged. It is more commonly referred to as an enlarged heart. The causes of cardiomyopathy may vary. Many times this condition results from high blood pressure (hypertension) or coronary artery disease. An enlarged heart may not pump blood effectively, resulting in congestive heart failure. Cardiomyopathy may improve over time, but many people with an enlarged heart need lifelong treatment with medications. Having an immediate family member who has or had cardiomyopathy may indicate that a person is more susceptible to getting this condition. Cardiomyopathy is not a disease but rather a condition that can result from a host of other diseases such as obesity or coronary artery disease. Recent studies suggest that cardiomyopathy is associated with a higher risk of sudden cardiac death.
La cardiomegalia es una condición médica en la que el corazón se agranda. Es más comúnmente referido como un corazón agrandado. Las causas de cardiomegalia pueden variar. Muchas veces esta condición resulta de la presión arterial alta (hipertensión) o enfermedad de las arterias coronarias. Un corazón agrandado puede no bombear la sangre eficazmente, dando por resultado la insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva. "En agosto del 2006 fue cuando empecé a sentir que me faltaba el aire. Escupía muchas flemas, sentía dolor en el pecho, y sentía que mi corazón latía muy rápido. En cuanto mi hermana tuvo la oportunidad, me llevo con el doctor familiar quien fue el que me dijo que lo que estaba pasando es que me quería dar una taquicardia, un paro cardiaco. En ese momento, el me receto unas pastillas las cual me tomé después de comprarlas, pero llegado a la casa sufrí un desmayo. Este desmayo lo sentí como si solo hubiese pasado un segundo pero mi hermana y mis sobrinos, quienes me trataban de reanimar, me dijeron que dure 15 minutos inconsciente. Esto que me estaba sucediendo no era algo normal, fue entonces que mi hermana me llevo al cardiólogo.
El cardiólogo me hizo barios exámenes, los cuales arrojaron el diagnostico de que tenía el corazón agrandado. Tener esta condición es un daño irreversible. En ese entonces, hace 11 años, mi corazón fue diagnosticado a estar trabajando a un 50%. Ya después continuo, el cardiólogo, a explicarme que tendría que tomar medicamentos de por vida y que avía dos maneras de mejorar mi situación. La opción número uno era someterme a un trasplante de corazón y la opción numero dos era que me pusieran un marcapasos, el cual ayudaría a mi corazón a funcionar un poco más del 50%.
A recibir la noticia me deprimí mucho. No entendía porque es que yo tenía que estar sufriendo esto. Le rogaba a Dios entre rezos y lágrimas que me quitara esta enfermedad. Que yo era joven y tenía muchos planes que cumplir. Pero no fue así. Desde el 2006 e recaído 3 veces al hospital. Y aunque Dios no me ha curado, gracias a él es que aún tengo fuerzas para seguir luchando y no me he dado por vencido."

The cardiologist gave me barium tests, which gave the diagnosis that his heart was enlarged. Having this condition is irreversible damage. At that time, 11 years ago, my heart was diagnosed to be working at 50%. I then continued, the cardiologist, to explain to me that I would have to take medication for life and that I had two ways to improve my situation. The number one choice was to undergo a heart transplant and the number two choice was to have a pacemaker put in, which would help my heart function a little over 50%.
I was very depressed after I received the news. I did not understand why I had to be suffering from this. I prayed to God in tears for this disease to be remove me. I asked him why it had to be me if I was a young man and had many plans to fulfill. But God has not cured me, yet. Since 2006 I have relapsed 3 times to the hospital due to my heart condition. And although God has not healed me, thanks to him is why I still have the strength to continue fighting and I have not given up."
